Our Wedding Vows

WEDDING CEREMONY

Jon and Amber Cherrington

May 24th, 2003 ~ Maui, Hawaii

Somewhere there waits in this world of ours,

for every lone soul, another lonely soul.

Each choosing each through all the weary hours,

and meeting finally at one common goal.

Then they blend like green leaves with golden flowers,

into one beautiful and perfect whole.

And life’s long night is ended

and the way lies open onward to eternal day.

Jon and Amber, may this 24th day of May in the year 2003, be a moment in time to be remembered and cherished. Today we celebrate your love for each other. Love is the foundation, the very essence of life but it must be cared for, tended to, and nourished if it is to grow, become strong, and bear fruit. Wedded love requires the faith and commitment of two people to love one another, to stand by each other, and to be together through the good times and the rough times.

So, may your love grow and bring you peace and joy on life’s path. From each other, may you always find communication, compassion, understanding, and forgiveness. And, to each other, may you always be best friend, lover, and teacher.

Do keep in mind that marriage is a great act of faith and a personal commitment to a growing love. It is moral. It is physical. And, it is a very special spiritual connection of two people united together on a common path. It is the bringing together of love and trust into a single focus to achieve happiness and attain personal growth and spiritual fulfillment through commitment.

So, welcome to this moment in your lives, to this place you have come to in each other’s hearts. And, may this shining hour be an open door through which you go now to build the dearest of all human relationships: …that of two best friends growing old together in marriage.

I’ve always wished to have a friend,

with whom my choicest hours to spend;

To whom I safely might impart,

each strength and weakness of my heart.

And to secure that blissful life,

I’d like that friend to be my wife.

Jon and Amber, over the past 2 years, you two have come to know, respect and love each other, and a oneness has grown up between you. You have come here today to affirm this oneness by pledging your devotion in marriage.

So, Jon, do you receive Amber as your lawful wedded wife to love, comfort, respect, and to share your life with from this day forward?

And, Amber, do you receive Jon as your lawful wedded husband to love, comfort, respect, and to share your life with from this day forward?

We seal now this promise of marriage with these wedding rings. They will be symbols, before the world, of the world you will create together, …symbols of the unconditional love that unites you in body, mind, and spirit. So, as you give and receive these rings, let your hearts be joined in the unbroken circle of love and marital commitment that they symbolize.

Jon, place this ring on Amber’s finger. Then, holding it there, look into her eyes, as you say these words to her:

Amber, with this ring, I marry you,

and join my life with yours.

I choose you above all others,

to be my partner in life.

Amber, place this ring on Jon’s finger. Then, holding it there, look into his eyes, as you say these words to him:

Jon, with this ring I marry you,

and join my life with yours.

I choose you above all others,

to be my partner in life.

Jon and Amber, with the words you have spoken and the rings you have exchanged, you have now consecrated your marriage. Therefore, in accordance with the laws of the State of Hawaii, and by the power and authority vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss.
