A Little Closer

We have moved on the list again! We are now number 17. I am shocked that we are moving this steadily. Although I read on a Korean Adoption Support site that adoption referrals are steady and fairly quick in the spring and then slow down in the fall. I am afraid that about the time we get very close things will slow to a crawl.

One More Box Checked

We finally got to the post office today to apply for passports. We hope that the processing time is not long. We are planning a 10 day road trip up the Oregon Coast and figure we might as well try to make it to Canada.
I also may attempt to get to Colorado for the annual picnic our adoption agency has. I think it would be fun to meet other families as well as the staff. Thankfully one of the lady bloggers that is through the same agency mentioned it to me in an email and got me thinking that it was a real possibility to get there.

Baby Steps

We are officially in the teens! Number 19 to be exact. It may be just one number down the list but I can accept that...

I600A

I called the agency yesterday to get some answers about the USCIS I600A form. I held strong and did NOT ask what number we were...Thankfully the girl OFFERED the information and now we are number 20. Moving right along!

Getting Stuff Done

Well I sent my husbands passport renewal yesterday. The post office said it is taking about 3 weeks to get a passport back. That is good news. I also got my daughters social security card in the mail so now the rest of us can go get our passports done. That will leave only a few things left to do. I need to get together photos of me and Jon and then a few more family pictures as well as pictures of our house. I also need to get the adjusted gross income from our 2005 and 2006 taxes. Finally I need to get with our health insurance companies to have them provide proof of coverage for an adopted child. Then I basically sit and wait...(and no update this week from agency, my husband said i need to show self control, so i have to wait until next week to get an update on our number spot...MEN!!!)

One Of The Family Photos For Korea

Unofficial

We moved up one more spot. It's unofficial though because there are 3 babies our agency is waiting to refer. The person that does the Korean translation for them is actually in Korea right now, so even though they have the 3 babies they can't refer them to a family until their information is translated. So we sit at number 21 with the 5 still on hold in front of us which would bring us to number 17. The girl I talked with said she thinks only one will possibly be off "hold" before we get a referral. That is good news. Our social worker said I can start to get excited when we are number 10 on the list. The agency said to get excited when we are number 15 though because of the five holds. My husband was supposed to get his passport photos today. I hope he did. He is lucky he just has to do a renewal application because he had a passport that expired last year. I have to the the first timers application for myself and the kids.
I am trying to think of names...So far the family can't agree on anything. Right now we are considering Lilly or Emily. Her middle name may end up being very long. I know that I am going to use Eun Mi which I have been told means grace and beautiful in Korean. I also might use her given name as part of the middle name.

WOW

Well I called our adoption agency two days ago for some help filling out some paperwork. I wasn't going to ask for a "list" number update, I figured that we had already been so lucky to move up two in such a short amount of time. At the end of the call I got the courage up and asked if we had moved up the list. The sweet lady that was helping me put me on hold. When she came back she sure shocked me. She said we were now #23, what a jump in less than a month AND then she proceeded to tell me that unofficialy we are #18 because there are 5 families above us on the list that are on "hold" for some reason or another. I have been in fast forward mode for two days trying to do paperwork that I thought would be kicking around here for at least a year if not two. Now I have scheduled the doctor appointments for our physicals for the end of August and have also scheduled a day for our passports. I assume the referrals will slow down but I sure don't want to be caught getting that phone call announcing our baby and having to say, "oh, can you keep her for awhile-we don't have PASSPORTS!!!
